2 experts on thermal energy storage join Entropy Solutions advisory board


Dr. Luisa F. Cabeza, a professor at the University of Lleida, Spain, and Dr. Mohammed Farid, a professor at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, are global authorities on phase change material.

PLYMOUTH, Minnesota  – Drs. Luisa F. Cabeza and Mohammed Farid, two internationally renowned authorities on phase change materials and thermal energy storage, have joined Entropy Solutions Inc.’s board of advisors.

Luisa F. Cabeza, Ph.D.Dr. Cabeza, a professor of industrial engineering at the University of Lleida, Spain, is the director of GREA Innovació Concurrent, a research group that is developing thermal energy storage concepts and systems for solar water tanks, HVAC systems, industrial applications and concentrated solar power plants. She has co-written more than 100 papers and published several books on phase change material and thermal energy storage, including "Advances in Thermal Energy Storage Systems: Methods and Applications." She holds industrial engineering and chemical engineering degrees, an MBA and a doctorate in industrial engineering from the University Ramon Llull in Barcelona, Spain.

Mohammed Farid, Ph.D.Dr. Farid, a professor of chemical and materials engineering at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, is a leading authority on thermal energy storage and phase change materials. He has been working since 1980 on the development of PCMs, their encapsulation and applications, from buildings and cold storage to the cooling of batteries and electronic devices. His research expertise also includes food processing, biofuel and waste management. He holds a number of patents and has published several books and more than 370 papers in international journals and conferences. He earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Swansea, Wales, and his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at the University of Baghdad.
